Team Spotlight
Get to know Rebecca
Q: Where do you live?
A: On the tradition and unceded lands of the Kwantlen, Katzie and Semiahmoo First Nations in the Cloverdale neighbourhood of Surrey.
Q: What is your position at RCCBC?
A: Communications Officer.
Q: What does that mean?
A: I spread the word about the amazing work of the Real-Time Virtual Support team. I also ensure that our virtual providers can stay up-to-date on the work of the team. Through storytelling, social media and media relations, I also help the RCCbc team promote other programs and initiatives, including Parenting in Practice, Quality Team Coaching for Rural BC, Point-of-Care Ultrasound, Rural Locums and more.
Q: Describe RCCbc in three words.
A: Innovative, tight-knit, relationship-driven.
Q: What motivated you to join RCCbc?
A: I was born and raised in a rural community. While I wasn’t directly involved in healthcare, I saw the positive impact that healthcare providers had on the community. And on the flip-side, how personnel or health policy change could have huge reverberations in a small community.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love the people I work with. Everyone does this work because it matters, and it gives us all a common purpose. This common purpose means everyone is collaborative and kind.
Q: What has been your proudest moments working with RCCbc?
A: It’s always really nice when I can play a part in getting stories about Real-Time Virtual Support featured in the news.
Q: What do you like to do on your days off?
A: I’m a mom of young kids so I don’t have days “off”! But the best weekends are filled with outside play.
Q: Where is your favourite place in British Columbia?
A: Some of my best childhood memories are on Tyhee Lake, near Telkwa, BC. I canoed there, I swam there, I learned how to drive a power boat, I water skiied, I windsurfed and more.
