Green Acts for Big Impact

Green Acts for Big Impact is a Community of Practice co-led by the Rural Coordination Centre of BC and Health Quality BC. It’s a space for rural and remote clinicians to connect, share ideas, and take practical steps toward low-carbon, high-quality care.

We meet once every two months to share ideas, highlight innovations, build relationships, and problem-solve together. Whether you’re already working on green initiatives or just getting started, this is your space to learn, contribute, and help shape solutions that make sense for rural care.

RCCbc’s Role in Planetary Health

RCCbc’s planetary health efforts focus on practical, actionable strategies tailored to the unique challenges and opportunities of rural healthcare. We aim to:

  • Convene Leadership: A dedicated Core Working Group guides our planetary health initiatives.
  • Support Innovation: We provide small seed funding for physician led community projects addressing sustainability in healthcare.
  • Build Networks: The GREEN ACTS FOR IMPACT Community of Practice fosters collaboration among practitioners, system leaders, and community members.
  • Embed Sustainability: Planetary health principles are woven through our programs and initiatives.

Discover the Seed Library: A Learning Garden for Planetary Health

Supported by some RCCbc’s seed funding, the Seed Library is a transformative initiative by the Public Health Association of BC (PHABC), designed to foster planetary health workforce development through education and collaboration. This curated collection of resources, webinars, and courses supports learners in addressing the interconnected challenges of health, equity, and ecosystems.

Key Features of the Seed Library:

  • Inclusive Learning Opportunities: Courses tailored for Indigenous learners, health workers, environmental professionals, and cross-sectoral leaders.
  • Indigenous Leadership: Emphasising Indigenous-led and land-based learning to centre cultural safety, equity, and knowledge systems.
  • Diverse Topics: From planetary health ethics to ecosystem restoration, the library connects local and global efforts in climate resilience.
  • Accessible Formats: A mix of free, open-access resources and fee-based courses to suit varying needs and capacities.

This initiative exemplifies RCCbc’s commitment to capacity-building and systems change in rural and remote communities. Explore the Seed Library to find tools, inspiration, and knowledge that empower action for planetary health.
