Learning

There is an urgent need for highly-skilled rural doctors across British Columbia. RCCbc and our partners provide innovative educational opportunities for people entering the field of rural medicine, as well as for residents and physicians who wish to update and expand their knowledge and skills.

Rural CME Programs

In collaboration with British Columbia’s five regional health authorities, RCCbc funds and coordinates continuing medical education for individual and groups of rural physicians to update and enhance their medical skills and credentials required for rural practice.

Rural Continuing Professional Development

UBC Continuing Professional Development offers learning activities that meet the needs of rural health professionals. Get the latest accredited, rural learning, including webinars, rounds, simulations, coaching and mentoring, conferences and more.

The CARE Course

The CARE Course is a two-day inter-professional, team-oriented learning experience developed by rural health care providers for rural physicians, nurses and pre-hospital providers. Delivered in local healthcare facilities, it enhances healthcare teams’ ability to deliver comprehensive rural emergency care across airway management, trauma, cardiac, emergency obstetrics, pediatrics and neonatal care.

Emergency Education Programs

The Nanaimo, Northern and Kamloops Emergency Education Programs, funded by RCCbc and the Rural Education Action Plan, offer a three-month, full-time, remunerated fellowship in Emergency Medicine to family physicians who practice in smaller and rural communities in British Columbia.
