Achievements

6th Annual BC Rural Health Research Exchange (BCRHRx)

The sixth annual BC Rural Health Research Exchange (BCRHRx) took place in November 2025, bringing together more than 120 participants to explore 20 virtual presentations highlighting rural research across British Columbia.

This year’s keynote presentation, “We’re racially profiled as drunk Indians” – experiences of Indigenous rural British Columbians accessing health care, was delivered by Dr. Terri Aldred and Ms. Erika Pritchard. Their insights shed light on systemic barriers and inspired meaningful dialogue on equity and inclusion in rural health care.

Each year, the BCRHRx continues to evolve through participant feedback, shaping a more accessible and engaging space for rural researchers, practitioners, and community partners. By fostering knowledge exchange and collaboration, the event strengthens the translation of rural research into action—helping ensure that innovative ideas and rural voices are heard province-wide.

RHC Research and Innovation Posters

At the 2025 Rural Health Conference (RHC) in Prince George, RCCbc supported the presentation of 30 rural research and innovation posters that showcased the creativity and commitment of rural health practitioners, researchers, and community partners.

Poster topics reflected the diversity of rural health priorities—from maternity care and cultural safety to team-based practice models and systems-level innovation. The growing engagement in this annual showcase highlights an expanding community of rural researchers dedicated to improving health outcomes and sharing their learnings.

Rural Research and Evaluation Roadmap

RCCbc advanced a key strategic initiative with the development of its Rural Research and Evaluation Roadmap. This guiding framework outlines a shared direction for future research, evaluation, quality improvement, and performance measurement activities across rural health networks.
