• Located on the BC mainland just north of Vancouver, the Sunshine Coast is easily accessible from Vancouver by ferry (40 min sailing). Gibsons is 4 km from the ferry terminal and can be reached by car or public transit. Flights are served by the Sechelt-Gibsons Airport. Regular float plane service from Sechelt is available to Vancouver (20 mins) and Nanaimo (15 mins).

    Medical students and residents will need a vehicle during their rural rotation.

    Westcoast Air offers daily services to Sechelt by float plane from Richmond or Nanaimo. Sechelt is about 20 km away from Gibsons.

  • There are plenty of outdoor activities to do in Gibsons. The surrounding waters provide an excellent place to go kayaking, sailing and view wildlife. Nearby parks are perfect for hiking, mountain biking, swimming and camping.

    Visit the Sunshine Coast Golf & Country Club for a round of golf. It is a beautiful course with Douglas Fir trees lining the fairways and great ocean views.

    The Sunshine Coast has more artists, crafters and artisans per capita than almost any other Canadian city. In Gibsons, look for purple banners hung at homes. Local artists fly a purple banner outside their studios to indicate that the public is welcome to browse.
