  • From Vancouver, Golden is a one or two days (713km/443mi) drive on Highway #1, the TransCanada Highway. Calgary is 262km/163mi further east, a journey that should take only two and a half hours. Highway #95 intersects with the TransCanada Highway in Golden, and heads south to the Kootenay Rockies communities of Radium Hot Springs (105km/65mi) and Cranbrook (284km/154mi), and then connects with US Hwy 95 at the US border.

    Medical students and residents will need a vehicle during their rural rotation.

    Airlines
    Scheduled air service is through Calgary International and the Canadian Rockies International Airport in Cranbrook. Both airports are approximately three hours drive from Golden, and offer car rentals. A shuttle service from Calgary Airport is provided by Pure Travel Group.

    Bus Services
    Greyhound Canada operates four buses per day to destinations east and west along the TransCanada Highway, and a daily service on Highway #95 to Radium and points south.

    Local Transportation Services
    BC Transit operates a bus service that serves Golden, the Kicking Horse Mountain Resort and some rural areas. Taxi services are also available.
