Team Spotlight
Get to know Kirsten Quinlan
Q: Where do you live?
A: Prince George, British Columbia.
Q: What is your position at RCCBC?
A: I’m a project Assistant to several programs: Rural Continuing Medical Education (RCME), Rural Programs Liaisons, Sustaining Pediatrics in Rural and Underserved Communities (Spruce), Advanced Skills Assessment Pathway (ASAP), and Specialist, Sub-specialty, Indigenous and Funding for Innovation (SPIFI).
Q: What does that mean?
A: My role is to provide support to the RCME Community Program and assist with networking, education, mentorship and advocacy in rural and remote communities across British Columbia.
Q: Describe RCCbc in three words.
A: Culture, connections, innovation.
Q: What motivated you to join RCCbc?
A: Being part of an amazing organization to improve healthcare across the province for communitiesthat need the most assistance. Prior to joining the team, I heard about the team culture and was eager to be part of this network.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: RCCbc is a network that makes me feel appreciated and valued. Our team has daily huddles and check-ins to ensure we are taking care of our personal well-being. The leadership group is great and helps us to succeed so, in turn, we’re able to help the providers we work with.
Q: What has been one of your proudest moments working at RCCbc?
A: I love all aspects of my job, but I would say that being at the start of the SPRUCe project and watching the pediatric network grow has been the most rewarding.
Q: What one thing might we be surprised to learn about you?
A: I used to take part in an annual event called “Sandblast” in Prince George where I’d snowboard down the cutbanks for the fastest time. One year, I even won!
Q: What do you like to do on your days off?
A: I love being outdoors with my kids and dogs, whether it be hiking or mountain biking. During the week, I go to as many Orange Theory gym classes as my body will allow me.
