

The traditional languages of the Penelakut tribe are: Halq’eméylem, hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓, Hul’q’umi’num’. It is one of six nations in the Hul’qumi’num Treaty Group.
Penelakut Island is accessible by BC Ferries (from both Chemainus and Thetis Island) and water taxi. Although there is no direct seaplane flight to Penelakut, there is air service to Thetis Island via Gulf Island Seaplanes
