ROAM-SP will provide resources for coaching, mentorship, peer exchange and support, skills development, and knowledge sharing among rural obstetric providers to increase community-based confidence in providing local intrapartum services. Depending on locally-assessed coaching and support needs, rural communities may identify and develop a number of multi-directional and interdisciplinary coaching relationships and/or structures between family physicians, midwives, obstetricians, and nurses. As such, coaching relationships may be:
- Provider-to-provider, within team
- Team-based, within-community and out-of-community
Participation is voluntary – mentees/coaches identify their own needs and goals, and individuals select and/or agree to form a relationship with their mentor/coach.
We have partnered with UBC Rural CPD CAMP (Coaching and Mentoring Program) to enable communities participating in ROAM-SP to use CAMP’s learning resources to meet the needs of their maternity team. You may find more information on the activities proposed by UBC Rural CPD CAMP within our partnership here.
