There is an update to the service change affecting the Rural Coordination Centre of BC’s Real-Time Virtual Support (RTVS) program.

Update

CHARLiE and MaBAL are now operating on reduced and variable hours.

  • The service change took effect Tuesday, October 21, 2025.
  • These pathways are no longer available 24/7. Coverage will vary by day and by provider availability, and there will be times when no CHARLiE or MaBAL provider is online.

Continuity of care

Check your Zoom app to see if CHARLiE and MaBAL are available. If they are not available, there will be an offline message. During these coverage gaps, options include:

  • Calling regional referral centres to access specialist pediatric and obstetrical care, if appropriate.
  • Calling the Patient Transport Network to speak to appropriate on-call support via 866-233-2337.
  • Calling RUDi through the Zoom app or via 236-305-9302.

Temporary transition

This is a temporary transition period, with RTVS partners working to reinstate a 24/7 MaBAL and CHARLiE service.

Looking ahead

Updates will be shared with providers and partners as soon as details are finalized.
