December 1, 2025
The CHARLiE (pediatric) and MaBAL (maternity and babies) RTVS pathways are now available overnight all week long.
Since October 21, CHARLiE and MaBAL had been operating reduced and variable hours. The change that came into effect December 1 marked a move to a consistent schedule.
Continuity of care
- RUDi remains fully available 24/7 for all urgent patient care.
- ROCCi and VERRa continue as usual.
- RTVS Quick Reply and C2C also continue.
CHARLiE/MaBAL Schedule, all times Pacific
- ONLINE: 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. seven nights/week
- OFFLINE: 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. seven days/week.
Moving to nighttime coverage is designed to support sites when they are most isolated and when transport is most challenging or unavailable.
This schedule also maximizes hours of coverage and provides the highest level of service that is possible as we move towards a harmonized and sustainable compensation model for RTVS.
When CHARLiE and MaBAL are not available, there will be an offline message. During these coverage gaps, options include:
- Calling regional referral centres to access specialist pediatric and obstetrical care, if appropriate.
- Calling RUDi through the Zoom app or via 236-305-9302.
- Calling the Patient Transport Network to speak to appropriate on-call support via 866-233-2337.
Temporary transition
We continue to work with our internal team and partners to work to re-instate a 24/7 CHARLiE and MaBAL service and to develop a harmonized and sustainable compensation model. This nighttime model will be in place until that can happen.
Looking ahead
Updates will be shared with providers and partners as soon as details are finalized.
