  • Community Information

Located in the mountains on the rugged west coast of north central Vancouver Island is the small town of Tahsis. Steeped in history, Tahsis is only 19 sea miles from Friendly Cove, the place where Captain James Cook landed in 1778 and made contact with the Mowachaht people. Tahsis is known for a relaxed and friendly lifestyle oriented around community and outdoor activities. Although primarily a forestry community, the Tahsis area has spawned a growing tourism industry in recent years with its evergreen forests, snow-capped mountains, lush valleys, and unspoiled beaches and coves. Wildlife viewing, canoeing, kayaking, caving, fishing and hiking are all very popular in this region which supports one of the largest bald eagle populations in North America.
