Get to know Bruce Hobson
Q: Where do you live?
A: North Cowichan.
Q: What is your position at RCCBC?
A: I’m the Medical Lead UBC Rural CPD – Rural Support Network Coaching & Mentoring Program (CAMP) and Personal Learning Plan Program (PLP). I’m also the Medical Director for the Health Data Coalition.
Q: What does that mean?
A: For UBC Rural CPD, I oversee and help coordinate the Rural Support Network, which includes the Coaching & Mentoring Program (CAMP), and the coaching/mentoring pillars of the RSON and ROAM-SP programs. I’m responsible for designing and running the coach/mentor skills training and act as a medical lead for the administrative and strategic portion of the network.

A: Collaborative, Learning, Supportive.
Q: What motivated you to join RCCbc?
A: Developing relationships with other rural physician leaders and being part of a support organization.
Q: What do you like most about working at / with RCCbc?
A: Meeting rural physicians with a passion for supporting rural health care.
Q: What has been one of your proudest moments working at / with RCCbc?
A: Leading and expanding the Rural Support Network (Coaching and Mentoring) provincially and beyond.

Q: What one thing we might be surprised to learn about you?
A: I’ve been skydiving and have swum in a shark cage in the open ocean.
