Providers Thriving Together — Self–compassion: Your (not-so-secret) Superpower

Join us for the Providers Thriving Together series. These free monthly virtual drop-in sessions provide a facilitated space to experience camaraderie and peer support in the service of activating our collective resilience. Each month, presenters—usually rural peers from around the province—will share practices, frameworks or ideas they’ve found useful. Sessions will prioritize time for exploring these themes in both small and large groups.

Synopsis:
- What is the difference between empathy and self-compassion?
- What is the difference between tender and fierce self-compassion?
- Participants will leave with an actionable item where they can begin to integrate self-compassion in their own lives

Introductions:
Dr. Jennifer Baxter is a rural family physician practicing on the Sunshine Coast, where she works in the emergency room and mental health, and is the Associate Local Medical Director. She has completed the 10-month Self Compassion in Psychotherapy certification program through the Center for Mindful Self- Compassion. Having witnessed the power of these practices in her own life, Jennifer is passionate about bringing the teachings of mindful self-compassion to colleagues.
Shireen Mansouri is a family physician who lives in Calgary but works in Yellowknife in primary care and oncology. She is came to Compassion Cultivation in 2014 and found it transformative in her practice. She is now a certified Compassion Cultivation Teacher and passionate about ensuring physicians have the skills to thrive in medicine
