Overview

As a rural healthcare provider in British Columbia, there is a good chance that you have found yourself in the back of an ambulance, travelling with a critically unwell patient.  You are not alone — nearly half of critical transfers in rural BC are accompanied by rural clinicians just like you.  Until now, there has been no dedicated, BC-built training program for this difficult, stressful and high-stakes work.

Care during transport is fundamentally different from care in any Emergency Department.  The RM-RC course has been developed by an interprofessional rural team — for rural clinicians — to help:
• Build confidence and competence for the most challenging transport situations — both adult and pediatric
• Strengthen skills in airway, ventilator management, pressors, trauma, medical and pre-hospital care… and more
• Build connections with a province-wide community of rural providers who are called upon to travel with critically ill patients
• Learn new tools and approaches that can be integrated into your current practice, team and community.Cohort size: Up to 12 rural physicians, nurses and NP’s

Register

This will be an immersive and inspiring educational experience for rural clinicians, and is suited to participants with varied skills and experiences. If you work in a rural ER, sometimes do transfers and you are curious to learn more, this course is for you!
