RCCbc has supported the development of many BC interprofessional courses for rural healthcare teams:
- The CARE Course – a course that trains physicians, nurses, and paramedics to work together to provide rural emergency care
- The Shock Course – a course that trains rural healthcare teams how to manage the hemodynamically unstable patient
- Third Trimester Obstetrical Ultrasound Course – a course that trains GPs and midwives to use ultrasound to answer four specific questions about third trimester pregnancies
- Online Journal Club for Rural Obstetrics – a journal club designed for specialists, midwives, GPs, obstetricians, and nurses providing obstetrical care in rural areas
RCCbc is also currently partially supporting the pilot of a Combined SEMP/SIM course with UBC Rural Continuing Professional Development. This two-day course teaches rural physicians how to perform a specific set of emergency medical procedures during Day 1, and then, on Day 2, groups participants in team-based scenarios to use the new techniques learned to manage a high fidelity patient mannequin.
