The Postgraduate Rural Elective Support Program strives to increase residents’ and fellows’ confidence and interest in working in rural areas by increasing exposure to rural communities in BC during their postgraduate training. Through this program, REAP provides travel and accommodation funding to UBC Postgraduate Fellows and UBC Residents enrolled in Specialty, Subspecialty and Family Practice Residency Programs who spend elective time in Rural Subsidiary Agreement Communities.

Benefits

  • Reimbursement of actual travel and accommodation expenses incurred up to: 
  • $3,000for electives of one week or less; and 
  • An additional $1,500 per week for each week beyond the first

Application Process

The application/claim form and all supporting documents must be submitted online within 30 days of completion of the elective or by March 31, whichever is sooner.
