An accredited CME session, hosted by SPRUCe (Sustaining Pediatrics in Rural & Underserved Communities), with Dr. Laura Sauve, a Pediatric Infectious Diseases specialist at BC Children’s and Women’s Hospital, the UBC Department of Pediatrics Assistant Department Head for Clinical Partnerships, and the president of the Canadian Pediatric Society. Her clinical work and research are focused on HIV, syphilis and other perinatal infections. She has cared for kids with measles in both in Canada and in Subsaharan Africa (Uganda and Burkina Faso).
Learning Objectives
After this session learners will:
- Be able to recognize clinical measles in children and manage common complications
- Feel prepared to counsel patients and families on the potential long term sequelae of measles
- Understand why we talk about Vitamin A in measles – what it can and cannot do
This session is open to all pediatricians, rural physicians and healthcare providers serving rural communities.
