Rural clinicians and those interested in rural medical education are being invited to take part in the first Rural Anatomy Broadcast, taking place Friday, November 21, at 12:30 p.m. Pacific Time, in Vanderhoof — the geographical centre of BC.

This rural and Indigenous focused project will connect the Gross Anatomy Lab to rural BC and learners and practitioners across the province. The first broadcast will involve Dr. Rebecca Janssen, from Vanderhoof, and Dr. Claudia Krebs, from the Gross Anatomy Lab at UBC.

The presentation will review relevant anatomy related to chest tube insertion in the context of a real patient case. It will also highlight rural practice opportunities. Additionally, it will highlight the use of technology to support education and clinical practice at the point of care.

This work is integrated into the ongoing work of the Rural Coordination Centre of BC (RCCbc) and Real-Time Virtual Support (RTVS) networks, building on trust and relationships with rural and First Nations communities across BC. Partners include UBC, rural communities, RCCbc, RTVS and UNBC.

A link to the broadcast will be available on November 14.

A second Rural Anatomy Broadcast will take place early in the new year.

Email communications@rccbc.ca with “Rural Anatomy Broadcast” in the subject line and we will add you to the meeting invitation or fill out the form below. Please note: participation in this session is a voluntary, non-remunerated activity.
