Rural POCUS Rounds: Foot & Ankle

Join Dr. Frank Johnson on Friday, Sep. 19, 2025 for a talk on Foot & Ankle!
Learning Objectives
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Identify key ultrasound features of common foot and ankle pathologies, including plantar fasciitis, Morton’s neuroma, and tibialis posterior tendinopathy, by performing focused scans of affected regions.
- Demonstrate proper probe placement and image acquisition techniques for scanning the Achilles tendon, ATFL/AITFL, and the 1st MTP joint, using dynamic and static assessments to evaluate soft tissue integrity and joint pathology.
- Evaluate the presence of joint effusions, ligamentous injury, or tendon pathology in the tibiotalar, subtalar, and midfoot joints by interpreting characteristic sonographic findings (e.g. effusion, fiber disruption, hypoechoic thickening).
