Whether through Simulation or through a regular interaction with a Real-Time Virtual Support provider, rural clinicians who call RTVS are engaging in continuing medical education.
RTVS “Fire Department”
The RTVS “Fire Department” team, led by Dr. Dana Hubler and Dr. Matt Petrie, carry out outreach and internal faculty development sessions. The team also works closely with Indigenous Cultural Safety Consultant Harley Eagle to ensure continual learning and unlearning with regards to cultural safety and trauma-informed care. The team got the “Fire Department” name because, just like a community’s fire department, they actively engage in activities unrelated to putting out fires. For example, community outreach and education would be included in their weekly schedules to supplement the calls.
