All that rural healthcare providers need to connect with Real-Time Virtual Support providers is a Zoom account or a telephone line—and a bit of know-how.
Four simple steps to getting started
Step 1 – Learn about Real-Time Virtual Support
Read more about RTVS and attend a 30-minute “Introduction to RTVS” session with RTVS Technical Support via Zoom. Encourage your team members to attend this session with you.
Step 2 – Get Access to Zoom
You can use any instance of Zoom to call RTVS. They are all approved for healthcare use. If you are a rural physician or nurse practitioner, you can request a Zoom account from (RCCbc). You can do this by emailing [email protected]. You must also download Zoom onto your computer, phone, or tablet.
If you already have a Zoom account from your health authority, or the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA), or through any other organization, you may use that account to access the RTVS Pathways.
Step 3 – Find the RTVS Pathway Contacts in Zoom
If you received a Zoom account through RCCbc, the RTVS Pathway contacts are pre-populated and ready to use.
To view them:
- Open Zoom on your computer, phone, or tablet.
- Sign in with your Zoom licence if you have not already done so.
- Click on the ‘Contacts’ button in Zoom.
- Under ‘All Contacts’, you will see all the available RTVS pathways.
- Select the pathway you wish to connect with and click ‘Meet’ for a call.
PHSA, Interior Health and Northern Health Zoom
If you have a Zoom licence from PHSA, Interior Health or Northern Health, you can search for the contacts, then star them as favourites so they show up in your starred contacts for easy access.
- Select the pathway you wish to connect with and click ‘Meet’ for a call.
Other Zoom
If you have a Zoom account with another organization, you will need to add the RTVS Pathways Contacts manually.
- Open Zoom on your computer, phone, or tablet.
- Click on the ‘Contacts’ button in Zoom.
- Click on the ‘+’ button and select ‘Add a Contact’.
- Enter one of the pathway email addresses listed below.
Note: It may take up to 24 hours for your contact request to be accepted, so the contact will show as “pending” until then.

Step 4 – Call Us to Practice
You can call any of the pathways to practice calling RTVS. You can also search the “RTVS Front Door” in your contacts to reach one of our vMOAs, who may be able to assist you in reaching a clinician. Mornings are usually less busy than afternoons. If the provider is busy with a clinical call, he or she may ask you to call back.
